Two people have been convicted for masterminding a bizarre kidnapping and robbery involving a walrus tusk.

Memphis Police said Sherry Brookshire, 27, and Jeremy Sims,34, broke into 71-year-old David Mays' home in April 2011.

According to police, Sims and Brookshire stormed into a home in the 600 block of North Trezevant. They then handcuffed the victim, beat him with a walrus tusk and forced him into a closet with a sweatshirt on his head.

Sims took the victim’s cell phone, checkbook and the keys to his car. The pair took off in the victim’s 2004 Jaguar XJ8.

Sims was arrested about 12 hours later, just blocks away, near Hollywood and Summer. He's been charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.

Not too long after that, Brookshire was also arrested.

Now, the two face a year and a half in prison.

They will be sentenced March 8, 2013.
