Photo Gallery | Bar DKDC opens in Cooper-Young
The phrase "when one door closes, another one opens" certainly applies to a new restaurant in Cooper-Young.
Bar DKDC, or Don't Know Don't Care, opens Saturday night replacing a well-loved Sushi restaurant that closed back in October.
Karen Carrier closed Dō Sushi promising a change to her fan base.
And she did exactly that, when opening up Bar DKDC.
Carrier told Action News 5's partner the Memphis Flyer that the menu will change every two or three weeks, focusing on street food from a different city and country each time.
Friday night Bar DKDC held a soft opening packed with eager food and drink connoisseurs.
Servers made rounds around the restaurant serving creative appetizers like chocolate ganache on French bread soaked in olive oil.
Many beverages were served in mason jars.
There was a long line at the back of Bar DKDC all evening, as people waited for to take a picture in the restaurant's old-fashioned photo booth.
The space is small, but open.
But as Carrier told the Memphis Flyer - she likes it that way.
Bar DKDC opens Saturday, January 12 and operates Wednesday through Sunday nights 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.
