3rd burglary in 6 months gets personal for business owner | News
MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - A business owner whose shop was burglarized twice, recently became a victim in his own home.
Hunter Demster is a Memphis native who has spent the last few years living around the country. He recently moved back to the Bluff City in an effort to do some good in his neighborhood, but has found himself a victim of burglaries three times in the past six months.
"I can't take another one," he said. "At least it happened in 2012. 2013 has got to be better than 2012."
Demster opened the Midtown Skateshop because he thought the area needed something like it. Thieves are making it a hard business to keep open as it has been broken into twice.
New Year's Eve brought a third break in, this time, at Demster's own apartment in the same neighborhood.
"I'm still in shock I can't believe it's happened again," he said. "My guess is someone was waiting for me to leave and knew I had electronics."
During the third burglary, Demster's apartment was stripped of its electronics, including laptops, iPod, iPad, camera, CDs, and even some of his shoes.
One of the many things taken from the house was a 60-inch 3D television. Due to the size of the TV that was taken, Demster wonders how many people might have been involved.
"It takes two people to carry it," he explained. "And to lift it over the fence. My guess there had to be two people on the other side of the fence."
Now, he is wondering if it times for a change.
"I'm thinking about moving and finding a house with an alarm, I guess," he said.
So far though, no plans have come together.
No arrests have been made in the burglaries.
