Tree falls on Midtown home, car after strong morning winds | News
Just in time for the holidays, a Memphis family has a lot of cleaning up to do after Wednesday morning's strong wind gusts.
A tree crashed, downtaking out the front of a house across the street from 1941 Foster ave at La Polama.
There were no injuries, but the house was seriously damaged.
Christopher Ayers, a neighbor, discovered the damage.
Then saw his vehicle was also crushed by the tree's limbs.
"I'm just glad my neighbors are ok. That was the most important thing. That they were ok," said Ayers.
Ayers said the neighborhood has had a problem with weak trees falling.
He worries the next storm could damage even more property.
"My concern is for the whole neighborhood because we have trees like this... I mean it's a beautiful community, but these trees are old and we don't know how well they will hold up with weather," he said.
Ayers would like to see the trees better checked and maintained.
Memphis police and fire responded to the house and helped make sure the home's residents were alright.
