UTHSC seeks to hire 100 new employees

The dismal statistics on the low level of employment for college graduates are just one troubling indicator of today’s economic realities.

More than half of America’s recent college graduates are either unemployed or working in jobs that don’t require a bachelor’s degree.  In February, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center will join job fairs in Nashville and Memphis in hopes of filling more than 100 available positions.

The jobs, which all require high school and/or a bachelor’s degree, are located on the UTHSC main campus in Memphis as well as at UTHSC sites in Chattanooga and Jackson, Tenn.; San Antonio, Texas; Wichita, Kan.; and Biloxi, Miss.

  • Feb. 12, Nashville Area College-to-Career Fair
    • Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    • Location: Williamson County Agriculture Exposition Park
    • 4215 Long Lane, Franklin, TN  37064
    • More than 1,200 candidates from 13 area colleges and universities are expected to visit the more than 82 vendors, which include CIGNA, Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Hertz Corporation, Fruit of the Loom, NBC Universal and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security.  Colleges like Tennessee State University and Middle Tennessee State University are encouraging their students to participate in this event rather than hosting individual college career fairs in the spring.
  • Feb. 20, University of Memphis Spring Career and Internship Expo
    • Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    • Location: University Center Ballroom (located across from the Zach Curlin Garage), Memphis, TN  38152

  • Feb. 26, Christian Brothers University Career and Internship Expo
    • Time: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Location: Thomas Center Sabbatini Lounge (CBU Student Center)
    • A variety of candidates with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business, Engineering, and Arts and Sciences from CBU participate in the job fair, eager to meet with recruiters from all over the country.
