Peabody Elementary to hold blood drive | Events
Across the country, winter snow storms, devastating tornados and seasonal flu outbreaks have impacted blood supplies. Peabody Elementary School is taking action to support citizens in their time of need.
On Monday, February 25, from noon to 6 p.m., Peabody School will host a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross to support patients in need of blood.
During the six-hour blood drive, the Red Cross Blood Donor Coach will be at Peabody School, 2086 Young Avenue, for parents, staff and any eligible community member to donate blood conveniently, right in the heart of the Cooper-Young Historical District.
Students who are members of the Peabody Beta Club will serve as volunteers for the event.
In January, Peabody students raised more than $800 for Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts – the funds were donated to the Red Cross to assist storm victims.
Citizens who wish to sign-up to donate blood may do so online or by phone.
To sign up online, visit www.redcross.org and follow the prompts under “Give Blood.” From there, donors will see the Peabody Elementary School sign-up page where they can enter the code: peabodyelementary. To schedule an appointment by phone, call 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767).
