Friends say Midtown Memphis bicyclist killed by hit-and-run driver | Crime
(WMC-TV) - Family and friends of a Midtown Memphis man who died early Friday morning said they believe a hit-and-run driver is to blame.
A close friend said 37-year-old Chris Davidson was hit by a car while riding his bicycle home from Hi-Tone just after midnight Friday morning.
Davidson apparently managed to make it about five more blocks to his girlfriend's house. When he got there, he told her he was hit by a car near Overton Square.
Davidson's friend, Jeff Dodson, said he was speaking out in hopes that someone will come forward with tips about the hit-and-run driver.
"Somewhere in Overton Square, he was hit by a car," said Dodson. "Those were his last words. I'm hoping someone knows something."
A Memphis Police Department spokesperson said when officers arrived, Davidson was lying on a bed unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Memphis Police Department said it is investigating the death. Investigators said it has not been determined that the cause of death is the result of the crash.
