Community Health Assessment and Strategic Planning in Shelby County
It's a new year and perhaps you made a resolution to be more active in your community. Here's a great opportunity to bring your voice to the table:
The Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) will be engaging the community in a comprehensive planning process over the next 12-18 months to help identify health issues most important to our county and develop strategies to address these concerns. Through a process called MAPP, Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships, community members will be invited to participate in various stages of the strategic planning. Hundreds of communities in the United States have or are currently engaged in this process.
Involvement in the MAPP process may vary, depending on your interest and availability, from attending a quarterly meeting and providing feedback about health in Shelby County to more extensive participation over a few months for a particular assessment subcommittee.
If you have any questions and/or are interested in attending the kick-off visioning meeting Friday February 1st, 2013 from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library Conference Center (3030 Poplar Ave 38111) contact Jason Hodges, Community Health Planner, at 901-222-9620 or email Jason.hodges@shelbycountytn.gov to RSVP by January 25th, 2013.
