Peabody Elementary parent creates rap to encourage students | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
An enthusiastic dad at Peabody Elementary created a catchy rap for students to sing along to in the classroom. "P.E.A. BODY Elementary" can be found on YouTube, the video is composed of pictures of the school's spirit and a video of students singing the song.
The encouraging lyrics of the song reinforce the power of education. Some of the lyrics include, " Imagine me doing surgery, image me making brand new discoveries, imagine me controlling my own fate - I can be A C Wharton, I can be Bill Gates" and "Soar like an eagle, Peabody believer."
The content in the song also demonstrates how Peabody Elementary students, parents and teachers continue to stay positive after a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a Peabody student last week. You can read more about Asjuana Clayton here.
One part of the song's lyrics include, "Crossin' guards/Stoppin' cars/Now my friends are safe!" Peabody elementary is participating in National Walk to School Week and specifically honoring Asjuana Clayton during the event.
Comments on the Friends of Peabody Elementary Facebook page indicate parents' excitement, and that the PTA is looking for other opportunities that this song can take them. One idea was for the PTA to do a choreographed dance to the rap.
