Twenty-four teams competed at this year's Variety Club Gumbo Cook-Off during the 20th Annual City Auto Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival, which was held on Sunday, April 15 in Downtown Memphis. The festival, which is organized by and benefits Porter-Leath, broke new records with 16,150 pounds of crawfish sold in only five hours.
Festival goers enjoyed Zany Cajun Contests, including crawfish races, a crawfish-eating contest, crawfish toss, crawfish-drawing contest and a crawfish bob. Three bands – Lafayette’s Bayou Boys and Memphis-based musicians Webb Dalton and Tout Le Mon provided entertainment while attendees chowed down on buckets of crawfish.
Mel's Angels won the Variety Club - Porter-Leath Gumbo Cook-Off and has shared the winning recipe for fans.
