St. Jude Founder to be honored | Community Spirit

Danny Thomas' life will be honored Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Singer Tony Bennett, comedian Ray Romano and Phil Donahue will co-host a St. Jude benefit gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The event will celebrate Thomas' 100th birthday and the 50th anniversary of St. Jude which Danny Thomas opened here in Memphis in February 19-62.

A special weekend celebrating the hospital's golden anniversary will be held in June this year.

Danny Thomas died in 19-91 and is entombed with his beloved wife Rose Marie in a mausoleum on the St. Jude campus.
