Hattiloo Theatre builds on momentum | Arts & Culture

(WMC-TV) - New plans to revitalize Midtown's Overton Square are taking shape. The Hatiloo Theater is getting a modern makeover.

The new $2.8 million Hatiloo Theater should be completed by March 2014.

The design-firm will split the complex in two parts.

One building will include two black-box theaters, with a total of 250 seats.

The other building with include a multi-purpose lobby, offices and a courtyard.

The new theater will also feature architectural designs with glass, brick and copper walls.. all part of a $19 million dollar project to renovate Overton Square.

The City of Memphis is leasing the land to Hatiloo for $1 a year.
