Local agency to ‘feed the need’ on Thanksgiving |

It is estimated that more than 1,600 people are sleeping on the streets of Memphis and Shelby County on any given night.
Many of them are panhandling, sleeping on makeshift beds of concrete and asphalt, and seeking refuge in shelters or abandoned buildings.
A local agency called Telisa Franklin Ministries will be hosting the “Feed the Need” Thanksgiving Day dinner at Hollywood Community Center, 1560 North Hollywood from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Last year the group fed 500 men, women and children on Thanksgiving Day, they are hoping to fill even more empty stomachs this year.
Along with the traditional Thanksgiving Day meal, haircuts, manicures, health screenings shoes, blankets, coats and toiletries are provided.
