Humdinger's | Food & Dining
About Us
A group of American and South African restaurateurs, master chefs with a love of great food, came together to pursue a common passion: They believed casual cuisine didn’t have to be deep fried or loaded with cholesterol to be good. Couldn’t freshly grilled gourmet chicken and fish be just as tasty and a whole lot healthier?
These chefs collaborated to create unique recipes, many using the legendary piri-piri spice. Today at Humdinger’s you can enjoy a mouthwatering array of hot and healthy dishes straight off a fiery grill.
Additional Information
Adventure is the spice of life. And our own Humdingers piri-piri sauce is a spicy adventure for sure.
The tiny piri-piri chili pepper (Swahili for pepper-pepper) grows wild in Southern Africa. Almost since the beginning of time, locals have harvested it and mixed it with herbs and natural oils to make delicious sauces, marinades and bastes for grilled fish and chicken. Boatloads of hungry Portuguese explorers dropped in sometime in the 1590’s and immediately fell in love with this new flavor. So much so that they didn’t bother going home. And, of course, piri-piri’s rumored aphrodisiac qualities helped ensure the new colonies thrived.
The unique and unforgettable flavor of piri-piri lives on here at Humdinger's as does that Old World charm. You don’t have to travel the globe to get a taste of adventure. You can get it right here.
