MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Neighbors in a Midtown community are fed up after a recent string of crimes targeted porches, cars, homes, and even a neighborhood landmark.
Some might say the occasional theft or break-in is just part of living in Midtown, but residents along Central Avenue say they have never had to deal with it before and they do not plan to start now.
The vintage phone booth that once stood in front of the Second Hand Rose Antiques store was not even safe.
Surveillance video shows a car repeatedly backing into the phone booth that stood on the store's corner for 30 years.
"The thing is cast iron. To knock it over you have to put in some effort," said Charles Bechtel, Second Hand Rose Antiques.
The phone booth is now being repaired, along with Chris Bonatti's window, which is covered with bars in the meantime.
"They just tapped the glass, stuck their hand through and latched it," he said.
